FIRST Robotics Competition at CC
CC Robotics proudly fields two competitive teams in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC): the CC Shambots 5907 and CC Shambots 9572. Each January, our teams join thousands of others worldwide for the season kickoff, marking the beginning of an exciting 45-day build season. During this intensive period, our students transform their ideas into reality, designing, building, and programming large-scale robots to compete in that year’s unique challenge.
The competition takes place on an impressive field the size of a high school gymnasium, where robots showcase their capabilities in thrilling matches. Our teams compete in two tournaments each March, aiming to qualify for the Michigan State Championships and ultimately the World Robotics Championships in April.
But FIRST Robotics is about much more than just building robots. Our teams develop comprehensive business plans, meet with sponsors, and engage in meaningful community outreach. They actively promote STEM education within our school community, develop sustainability programs, and maintain a strong online presence through our website and social media channels. Through these diverse activities, students compete for various FIRST robotics awards that recognize excellence both on and off the field.
Training and Meeting Schedule
Both teams begin their journey with pre-season training, where students learn all the essential skills needed for success. The CC Shambots 5907 team meets in the CC Robotics Center on Mondays and Wednesdays during the fall semester. During the build season (January through April), they add Saturday sessions to their Monday and Wednesday schedule. The CC Shambots 9572 team trains on Mondays and Wednesdays in the fall, switching to Thursday and Saturday meetings during the build season.
