The CC Shambytes are the development team within the CC Robotics program at Detroit Catholic Central High School. The CC Shambytes provide a hands-on, high-impact introduction to robotics for new team members—while upholding the core values of FIRST.
As CC Robotics continued to grow, we recognized the need to create a clearer path for students new to robotics. The Shambots (FRC 5907), our veteran team, had grown in complexity and skill level. To ensure every student could have meaningful, hands-on experiences from day one, we launched the CC Shambytes in 2023 as our rookie development team.
This structure gives students the opportunity to:
- Learn the fundamentals of design, engineering, and programming
- Gain experience building and driving a full FRC competition robot
- Develop leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
- Contribute meaningfully to competition strategy and execution
CC Shambytes is a no-cut, student-led team supported by experienced mentors and the leadership of the CC Shambots. Members take part in:
- CAD and fabrication training
- Electrical and mechanical systems development
- Software programming and controls
- Business, branding, and outreach initiatives
Every Shambyte gains real-world STEM experience while preparing to transition into leadership roles on the Shambots.
Making an IMPACT from the Start
In their rookie season (2024), the Shambytes made waves by:
- Qualifying for the FIRST in Michigan State Championship
- Winning the Rookie All-Star Award and Rookie Inspiration Award
- Showcasing the power of passion, preparation, and teamwork
If you’re a student looking to dive into robotics—or a parent, educator, or mentor interested in supporting our mission—the CC Shambytes are where the journey begins.
